Zijue Wang, also known as Justin, who is a stupid guy learning in digital art and design. However, I have been learning this stuff by myself for several years, and I think I can make something pretty good, even I am stupid. I love to read comic and watch anime, and also love to try it by myself. I am glad to be here to learn something cool.

INFLUENCES
His work is really engaging. I have gone to his art talk and view some of his project in our school exhibition. David Hoffos is good at using light source to create a feeling of unreal. The little human can be exactly in the place where he wants to it be. A great controlling of composition to make thing unique. I really love that connection between digital human in video and real model.
I also found something in posts that is quite interesting. For me, I love anime and some funny stuff. This video shows a good editing between reality and anime style. Pretty funny and good, suggest you guys to watch it.

The first project is Appropriation. My group chose the quote:”Sometimes, I just need a break from the computer. Thanks goddess I got an iPad”.

The 3 pictures were done by Photoshop, it is a very simple Photoshop Graphic drawing. The control of bush pressure is an important part. The emotion of the figure is hard to present, it must show the viewer how the figure feels like. Text is from my quote, and also helps viewer to understand it. I love this because it has ironic element, which is my favorite. All in all, I think my 3 pic are pretty much fit for our topic.

Digital Art Genres
Thanks god I really nervous on speech. But I love to talk about what is my thought. There is a chance to talk about my understanding of Programming Art and some cool stuff in digital world.
Programming art is a combination of science and artistic talents together to form. Although some will argue that science requires a implementation of a program. And art is making things purely from their beauty. Programming is design which requires imagination. It is a science because it implements algorithms of mathematics and logic. It is also engineering which requires tradeoffs of size, speed, maintainability, and time to implement. It is art because it requires the programmer to choose the most efficient and elegant of multiple possible solutions.
This project remind me about C4 project.

C4 on iOS simulator
I spend some times to create this application for The Beatles. Actually I seldom listen to some band’s music, but The Beatles is one of my favorite band I guess. The background picture is made by Photoshop, I have to test the frame for the video, if it fits or not, and changed the picture on the background. For high light the frame, I added 4 twinkling points at corner to catch people’s eyes. The logo of The Beatles is a single picture, more easier to do a animation and font style. “The most successful band in the history” is a moving sentence, enters from right and goes out screen from left. People always want to see some moving stuffs, don’t they? At same time, the font’s color will changed from light blue to black. The theme colors of this application are blue and black, which are cold colors and cool colors. I enjoy solving problems by my hands, and creating art by programming.

Translation Project.
First, we listened a weird soundtrack and try to get some useful idea. Then, we make a translate a poem to video. We got group of 4, everybody in my group are great. For our video we decided to translate the poem as authentically as possible. We tried to capture the different feelings and phases of the poem. Our video mirrors the poem by building up to a catharsis through confusion and disorientation but eventually coming to a calm conclusion. Our title is taken from a line of the poem.
I was cameraman in this project, so whole video I didn’t show my face. However, cameraman is an important role in this project, you need to know how to use video camera, then set up a good angle for recording, watch out other stuffs such as people who walked by. The other reason why I become a cameraman is I am not good at performance. Video editing I just help a little bit, my group edited those clips and soundtracks very well. Thanks for my group!

ACTIVATE
In this video, we collect some sound effect and remix them into a video. Compare with other people’s video, I prefer to make a short movie which has a clean story line. Some odd videos can show editor’s skills, but short movie can show the editor’s ideas. I used some weird sounds into my video to show a feeling of anger. Also, Stevin Jobs’ presentation of iPad is a symbol of climax, people line up to buy the new technology. Those clips which from the Mac Book are really fitting my video. It should be one or two more scenes about many people get their iPad and have fun with it, but I didn’t found such a good clip to make that part. Forgive me I can’t borrow 20 iPad and call up 20 friends to have fun with them. All in all, I think the video reached my goal, and presented my idea very well.

Remix
The last project I have done in this class, which is my masterpiece I believe. The video remixes all the popular elements on Youtube, such as Mr. Trololo’s singing, Hitler’s rage and trollface. The reason why I choose them is, those things are popular and many people did remix of them. They all should have copy right, but nobody cares. Because of that, they are popular, more and more people doing remix of them. I am the one of them. This is an ironic short movie about copy right. Hitler is a bad guy everyone knows from textbook, but if he is protecting the copy right? He is justices right? No! Copy right is a resistance of sharing cultures and creating “ready-mades”. Therefore, Hitler lost WWII. Hitler’s rage is so funny, first time I watched it, I remember Hitler’s emotion, it is impress. So that I decide to make a video of remix him. Remixing those famous figure is not a polite thing, if Hitler can hear me, I would say sorry to him. Anyways, I am just creating an ironic video, not willing to start WWIII.
