BLOG ACTIVITY

The blog is an area to discuss issues related to your practice, classes and general life as an artist. This should include discussions of process, problems, discoveries, thoughts, realisations, critiques. you may add to this retrospectively. The minimum expectation is one blog entry per week. Some of these may be specifically assigned, while others are at your discretion.

I encourage you to write a critical evaluation of your projects in this class and others. this doesn’t have to be hugely deep. Just recount what the process was like: what worked, what didn’t. Remember that the blog is a way to figure out exactly what makes you tick and what works for you as an artist, researcher and student.

PORTFOLIO

Create a section of linked pages on the blog that brands you as a professional artist. think carefully about what your brand is and how it relates to your work. Use images to reinforce this brand and make your page more dynamic. think about formatting that makes it easier for the audience to access information and digest your work at a glance.

YOUR PORTFOLIO IS A PROFESSIONAL SECTION. SPELLING, GRAMMAR AND LANGUAGE COUNT!

your portfolio must include documentation of your 3 MADT202 projects. this includes:

  • photos; video (audio pieces can embed audio clips into a youtube video and embed the video in the blog
  • “adam frank” project statements
  • a 100 word critical write up on each project*

* the 100 word critical write up should include:

  • description of the piece
  • description of the audience experience
  • a critical re-reading of the piece (look at it and evaluate it as if it were someone else’s work. talk about the effects of colour pallet, narrative decisions, medium choice, etc.
  • spend time really re-engaging with the work. now that it is done, what has it become? what things to you see that you put in sub-consciously but now come out as really important?

The portfolio may also contain selected works from your other classes. Only pick the very best work that is indicative of your practice. You are not required to add critical essays for these though it would likely improve your mark to add a little critical engagement.

Include as well documentation of shows and exhibitions you have been involved in.
