New experiences from ACAD

My first year here at ACAD at first was extremely intimidating!! An artist in mind is completely different to an artist in practice and through the first four classes of my life in the past 7 years since high schoolI have been ripped inside out lol hypathetically of course! Below is a list of different experiences I was introduced to in my first semester here at ACAD…

Ceramics 101: Never in my life did I see I myself in ceramics…and ironically it ended up here because of late submission forms, and it turned out to be absolutely awesome. I will add photos after all my projects are complete, along with descriptions for each…lol or the best I can give.

Art History: Now before ACAD, I didn’t know how to study, how to write, how to write on an academic level…so on and so forth. This class isn’t just to enable you to be able to write or know how to, or know how to study properly…i’m finding it helps me to research deeper avenues, which ultimately finds it’s impression in every course!!! It shows how you can take the gears of searching, seeking and the uses of trial and error to find shit you never knew existed or knew about!! lol epic

Humanities: Oh humanities…philosophy, more philosophy! This shit is great. Again like art history it brings us into the history of why art is as it is now, why the way we think and act and ultimately do most of the things we do! It’s insight to our past!, and I’m learning at ACAD that the idea of knowing our past reflects on us today. We can’t deny these facts so why not know them! Let them teach us, evolve us on every academic level…every thing I’m learning is giving me deeper insight on different levels of thinking…which in turn is begining to reflect in my passion, concentration and respect for the arts.

HAHAHHAHAHA..MADT, Last of course even though this site is the seed of Kurtis!

It’s a love hate relationship. The learning curve is incredible, I must emphasize on this class and it’s Proff: Kurtis Leswick because it’s so out of range from a lecture or normal studio level course!?!!? He has enabled us to speak freely and create freely with no restrictions, which is so strange for what should be a secure, set system of rules and expectations ect…anyways, Kurtis encourage to discourage—may not make sense unless you live it lol he gave a push and time frames for projects unpresideneted to a normal two week schedule…you get two hours and we produced. It isn’t so much can you be a rock star in two hours! it was more or less “Or so I felt” can you make something…instead..just fucking make something lol. Good or not you are forced into a world you are not used too and it makes a person think and look else where for solutions. This experiencwe whether or not I pursue this class further has taught me regardless, that one can’t dwell on a project..and will ultimately get no where if I try to choose prop before story.

This is my first semester and so far I am encouraged, I never thought a paper could be written under my watch and absolutely never thought I would make short films lol…sort of! as well as ceramics. My artistic career has a long journey, no doubt. The next four to five years are going to gruelling and awesome. I will keep adding new material as my years progress and I hope to get some feed back as the time goes. Thanks for reading

Ciao for now folks
