Biography:
I’m Kale Chalifoux, a 20-something aspiring artist, currently attending The Alberta College of Art + Design. I’m named after a Soap-Opera actor, and not the vegetable (Although both are rumoured to cure cancer) Since my inception, I’ve always been creative, with a wild boundless imagination. Born in Edmonton, raised in Calgary. As a child I was a large fan of Lego, drawing and video games. I made my own comic called “South Parkade” it was silly and… all over the place. Comics influenced my life since then, specifically: Captain America, V for Vendetta, The Maxx, and Green Lantern. I was a also a large fan of Video Games, often waking early in the morning to play them. My favourite games were Legend of Zelda, Mario and Banjo Kazooie. Since then I quite enjoy Team Fortress 2, Metroid, and Resident Evil. During the end of Junior High I discovered a whole new world of music other than that of the late 60s and 70s. They inspired me beyond words! Some of my favourite bands being: Incubus, Operation Ivy, The Arcade Fire, Weezer, Modest Mouse and The Protomen. I also love singer.song writers such as Tomas Kalnolky, Dan Potthast, and Serj Tankian.
I currently resides at home with my 2 dogs (Sunshine and Jasper), Father and two of his sisters. I work at the Scotiabank Chinook Theater, being a Team Leader and Cast Trainer (Supervisor and the training guy) so if you ever want to learn how to pop popcorn professionally, I’m your guy.
Currently, I’m working on a few comics, including a Zombie-themed comic like Zombieland, but better… well, I conceived the idea before Zombieland, but their only similarities is that it’s comedy-based. I’m also constantly working on writing poetry/songs/short stories, and just further developing my own stories. Writing and Drawing are my strong suits, and I honestly strive to be the next Frank Miller, or the next Mark Millar.
Eh, lastly. I’m rather shy at first, but once I get to know you, I won’t shut up. Ever. When it comes to something I like, or want to learn more about, I become really opinionated and argumentative. I think debate is a great learning tool. Other than that, if you need to contact me, say my name twice, clap once, and do a little dance. I’ll be there.
