Emily’s Influences

I find it difficult to explain my influences, as they are usually more fleeting than persistent.  My most constant influence is Van Gogh.  I was never into his work until I viewed it in person when I went to the MoMA in New York.  I fell in love with his paintings and realized that my style was similar to his in certain ways, and have extrapolated from there.

Beyond that, I am influenced by everyday things.  By ideas, concepts.  I’m inspired by books and music and poetry, and the creativity and art of others.
