My name is Emily. I just finished my first term at ACAD. A lot of stressful things happened during this semester, but I think I learned a lot as well. It is my goal to create feelings and ideas and show myself through art of all kinds, and grow while doing so. I am primarily a visual artist, but I’m also a writer, an improviser and theatre techie (I stage managed my high school’s production of Evil Dead: The Musical, and I also did lighting/stage managing for ; the musical in the Edmonton International Fringe Festival), a music enthusiast, and have done Irish dance and hip-hop (even though I hate hip-hop. I mean, I listen to metal music). I also think it’s important to know that I was home schooled (unschooled, specifically, and it’s still an important part of who I am) until high school (but even then I was in a self-directed program) and I love cats.
I was born and raised in Edmonton, but I am now living in Calgary in order to attend ACAD. Moving out and away from home at once was, and still is, an interesting journey. I believe that it has helped me grow and become more independent, despite how stressful the changes have been.
