Live Cinema: Real-Time Narratives with Mia Makela (SOLU)
As a part of the 2010 Reel Artists Film Festival Calgary, this 4-day intensive workshop with Berlin-based digital artist, Mia Makela will give a good introduction to the practice of real-time audiovisual performances, recently coined as LIVE CINEMA. The workshop ends with a public performance.

PopSex! Conference + Artist Discussion
PopSex! is an exhibition, academic conference + film series hosted by the University of Calgary and the Alberta College of Art + Design.
Using the Institute for Sexual Science (1919-1933) in Berlin as its starting point for discussion, PopSex! brings together artists, scholars, and students to examine the history of sexuality and its significance for pop culture in the past and today.

POWEr is a performance based on high-voltage electromagnetic perturbations, by Alexandre Burton and Julien Roy. Using an audio-modulated Tesla coil as a live instrument, electrical arcs are generated and transformed in an ongoing, realtime audiovisual process.
